OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 276!


Hi everyone: It's day 276 of omad! Today's meal was steak again. I was actually looking forward to it. When I started the carnivore diet I got bored very quickly of eating meat. But now I can say that I really like steak. I do get bored occasionally but not today. If you are thinking of doing this diet, I would recommend eating mostly steak. I eat one meal a day but I would suggest that you eat at least two meals. My biggest problem is not eating enough. It is very difficult to eat 2 pounds of steak in one sitting. However, this can be done in two meals easily. I also have been eating sunflowers seeds and drinking def coffee after my meals. I'm getting back into wanting to have some form of dessert. As for my sugar craving they have not gone away. What saves me is that...I don't have any sugar in the house. Some people can eat 2 squares of a chocolate bar. I have to eat the entire bar.

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 275!


Hi everyone: It's day 274 of omad! Today's I was at my mom's house. It was Sunday dinner. We celebrated three birthday's and it turned into a potluck. We contributed a lemon meringue pie with oatmeal raisin cookies. My mom cooked fried chicken, curry goat meat, lettuce salad, and fried fish. In addition to the desserts we brought. My mom had a huge chocolate cake. I had fried chicken and salad. I did have a small piece of cake. I am not a fan of chocolate cake. So that was lucky for me. I weighed myself yesterday and I am up one pound. As I mentioned my weight does fluctuate, so I am not going to worry about it.

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 274!


Hi everyone: It's day 274 of omad! We usually go out to a restaurant Saturday nights. My family wanted to go to Lonestar. We love going to Lonestar. The food is great. The service is always exceptional. My daughter had the burger with just ketchup and it came with fries. My husband and I ordered the chicken fajita for two. Our side was guacamole. They usually bring free nacho chips and salsa as a free appetizer. That was my demise. I had one...then two...then....I went down the slippery slope. Keep in mind that when I walked into this restaurant my intention was to eat as clean as possible and to keep it keto. Once I had the nachos, I said to myself. Well, since I had the nachos. I might as well use the tortilla to wrap my chicken instead of the lettuce wraps. It was a pretty much all or nothing kind of night. However, it was sugar-free. No dessert for me. Tomorrow is another day.

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 273!


Hi everyone: It's day 273 of omad! My intention today was to have a carnivore diet meal but I ended up having a keto meal. It started with two tenderloins steaks which weighed about 2 pounds. Looking at them I thought I could eat both but I could only eat one. I am realizing that I love a variety of foods for my omad! Yes, I was full of steak but I had room in my tummy for something else too. So I used three avocados and I made an avocado mousse. An hour later I wanted something crunchy, salty and nutty. I had about two handfuls of sunflower seeds. I was satisfied.  I would not recommend eating like this when you first start your weight loss journey. I recommend that you have a plan of what you are going to eat during your omad. So that you do not overeat. Tonight could have easily turned into a binge feast but lucky for me I didn't have any junk in the house. I fasted for 20 hours and had an eating window of 4 hours.

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 272! Social situations and omad...


Hi everyone: It's day 272 of omad! Many of you have asked how I deal with social situations in relation to my omad. What I usually do is.. fast and then eat my meal at that social gathering. I try to eat clean but sometimes that is not always possible. So I plan for it. For example, this weekend I am going to my mom's house and we will be celebrating three birthdays. My sister, her daughter, and her son all have birthdays in April. So we will be having a lunch and of course cake. So I will have my omad at that lunch. I will try to eat as clean as possible but if I don't I'm not going to beat myself up for it. I will try to keep my sugar intake as low as possible.  I will avoid the foods that trigger my acid reflex. Some of the foods that trigger my digestive issues are citrus fruits, Doritos chips, greasy fried food, spicy foods, dairy, garlic, and onions. I have also noticed that peppermint gum triggers my reflux as well. So I have don't chew gum anymore. Some people are triggered by animal fat. My reflux is not. Also when I use to eat cheesecake, three slices would send me for a hospital visit. So no more cheesecake for me. I can't eat just one slice and I can't be trusted around it. Everyone's triggers are different. It is a great idea to keep a food journey. I really miss Doritos chips but when I think about how they make me feel. Just the memory and I avoid them like the plague. Today's dinner was steak and chicken cracklings. I love the leaner cuts of steak. I prefer tenderloin over ribeyes.

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 271!


It's day 271 of omad! As women, we have so many roles. Mother, wife, sibling, therapist, and sometimes worker bee! Today was such a hectic of day. My morning started with me getting myself ready to meet a new client for work, at the same time I was helping my daughter with a math question that I didn't understand myself. Sigh... 

My thoughts...As women, we struggle to find time to focus on our wellness. We are responsible for so many things in our life. I think that it is important to make ourselves a priority. I know that especially for women that work inside and outside the home this can be difficult. I try to claim at least one hour of the day for myself. I usually go for a walk or just watch a tv show that I like. But I prefer the walk. Sometimes I will just listen to a Prince music, a podcast or I just walk in silence and appreciate the beauty around me. Life is beautiful. 

Today's dinner was steak and asparagus. I would say that my meals are still mainly meat but today I really wanted asparagus. So I guess some may call me a ketocarnivore or a carnivoreketo. What does it really matter? I'm still maintaining my weight loss. I feel great. So forget about the labels and listen to your body. My dinner was delicious btw.

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 270!

Hi everyone: It's day 270 of omad! Yesterday I blogged about sugar. Here is some food for thought. How do you feel about sugar? Does how much sugar you consume really matter? Does eating that slice of cake or doughnut in the office lunchroom cause any damage? Does eating sugar become a slippery slope for you? Sugar has been compared to street drugs because it triggers the release of chemicals, opioids, and dopamine which set off the brain's pleasure center. Sugar makes us feel GOOD and we end up craving those feelings. For me consuming sugar results in the over-consumption of foods that are lacking nutrients. Funny that these sugar-packed foods are also high in calories. I realized during my family crisis that I had an issue with emotional eating. Many of my keto Instagram friends have said that they do not emotionally eat while doing keto. It seemed to go away they said.  I am realizing that I am more addicted to sugar than I originally thought and still attached to how it makes me feel. Yikes! Working on my sugar addiction starting today. Today's dinner for teriyaki chicken, blackberries, and sunflower seeds!

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 269!


Hi everyone: It's day 269 of omad! For the last couple of weeks, I have been dealing with a very stressful situation which has affected my immediate family and extended family. Actually, it has been life-changing. I realized for the first time that I am a stress eater. What did I want to do once I heard the bad news? I was not hunger but I automatically went looking for some form of carbs. My brain automatically remembered the feeling associated with eating chocolate or something junky. I needed something to make me feel better. Food has always has been my go-to buddy. I didn't have any junk in the house that I could eat. Lucky for me I usually buy Doritos chips for my daughter but I can't eat them because they give me the worst acid reflux ever. What did I learn? It is so important to not have those bad foods in the home. It is such a slippery slope. I work from home and I guess I could have driven to the grocery store to get some sugar/junk but that would have cut into my work time. I was able to get through my rough patch with coffee. However, the decaffeinated coffee kept me up and messed with my sleep. This morning I decided I needed to omit coffee for a few days so that I could sleep. Sugar does not help with stress. Sugar makes stress worse. Actually, eliminating the carbs and sugar has helped stress-wise. Give it a try if you are going through a stressful time in your life. Eliminate the sugar and carbs. Today's dinner was all carnivore! Just steak steak steak! Please send some prayers my way.

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 268!

Hi everyone: It's day 265 of omad! Today was an extremely busy day. Sunday is usually my cooking day. I love to make a home cooked Sunday meals. It's usually a keto meal which consists of steak and some vegetables of some kind. Today we had take-out which was Popeye's chicken. My husband and daughter had chicken and fries. I had the chicken and I made a salad as my side. The meal was delicious. I did notice that I was not as satisfied as I normally am when I eat steak. However, as you guys know I like to change things up. I am looking forward to having steak and asparagus for dinner tomorrow.

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 267!

Hi everyone: It's day 267 of omad! Today I attended a family dinner. There were a least 100 people at the gathering/celebration. I fasted for about 20 hours and I had an eating window of 4 hours. The meal started at 3pm and it was buffet style. I avoided all the carbs and things. I had coleslaw, chicken, and salad but everything else was carb loaded. I ate very little. That was fine. Of course, many of my relatives complained to me that I didn't have any food on my plate. When I said I don't eat carbs, I got that look of..."What". Trust me 2 years ago if someone told me they didn't eat carbs or that they were trying to avoid carbs. I would have had the same reaction. So I just laughed. 

On the way home, we stopped at Wendy's and I had a bunless Baconator. My daughter had Dave's single combo. She didn't want her fries and I hate to throw away food. So I ate her fries. I know right. I was doing so good. Anyway, no big deal. I ate her fries and my meal. My sister gave us a whole bunch of fried chicken, rice, and cakes to take home. There was so much leftover food at the family celebration. When I got home I ate some cake. Now I will say this...we never buy sugar-filled cookies and cakes. If I do have desserts they are always keto friendly. I try to keep the sugar desserts out of my house. I really try because I know I will get so tempted. My daughter tells me that she buys cookies at school. So that they are not around me. Yeah, so I caved when I saw the cake. It happens. Tomorrow is another day. I tell myself.

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 264!

Hi everyone: It's day 264 of omad! Today's meal was zucchini lasagna with lots of cheese. My dessert was whipped avocado with heavy cream and one teaspoon of raw honey. I even shared popcorn with butter with my daughter. It was good. I mentioned before that when I was doing my 30-day carnivore diet challenge. I noticed that dairy caused me to break out. Actually, the cheese was the culprit. I had removed cheese from my diet. However, I still add cream to my coffee. Today was the first day of having cheese. I did feel bloated after eating this meal. My husband actually said he loved the dinner but he missed the carnivore meals. It will interesting to see if I break out tomorrow. I love cheese and I really don't want to remove it completely from my diet. I hope I can at least have it once in a while. My daughter has also mentioned that her skin is clearing with the elimination of dairy. My husband asked me tonight if we can have a carnivore meal tomorrow. I think men will appreciate this diet. I think carnivore is a real couples diet. I think my hubbie could eat just meat every day for the rest of his life. As I mentioned before, I love my steak but I love variety too. So tomorrow's dinner will be a carnivore meal but I will add veggies or rice to my daughters. She refuses to eat just meat.

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 263!


Hi everyone: It's day 263 of omad! Today's meal was chicken teriyaki and eggs drop soup! I love egg drop soup. I could eat this every single day but I won't because I don't want to become bored of it. It's delicious and easy to make. Here what you need: One can of chicken broth, one bouillon cube, and two eggs. Bring your broth to a boil. Add your bouillon cube. Whip your eggs in a bowl. Reduce your heat to simmer. Gently pour in your whipped eggs. Done! I also had halo top peanut butter swirl. I'm changing things up. This was not a carnivore diet meal. This was more of an I'm going to eat whatever I want at my omad kind of meal. Always winning!

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 262!


Hi everyone: It's day 262 of omad! Yesterday I blogged about feeling bored of eating just meat. So guess what I ate at my omad? Yep meat! I had planned on eating veggies and adding some fruit too but my body wanted just meat today. So strange. I think moving forward I will do just that. Listen to my body. I have surpassed my goal weight of 135. I am now 128. I'm not interested in losing any more weight. I am hoping to maintain what I have lost. My body loves everything intermittent fasting. 
Growing up I remember as I kid I liked to eat this way too but I was always told by my parents to eat three meals. I miss the days that I would eat when I was hungry. Along the way, I forgot what it felt like to be hungry because I was always full. Constantly eating. Constantly snacking. Ok...I'm off that train now. Today's meal was about a pound of steak and a pound of chicken cracklings. I had no desire or room for my planned dessert.
