OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 365! COMPLETED! WHAT'S NEXT???


Hi friends: It's 365 days of omad! I did it! I ate one meal a day for one year!!! During this year I did do some extended fasting. The longest one was 6 days. Therefore I didn't count those days as omad days. So my numbers are a little off. I started on July 17, 2017 and finished today July 28, 2018! What an amazing journey I have been on. My starting weight was 167 and my ending weight is 127! However, my weight does fluctuate from 127 to 135!

Moving forward I will continue eating one meal a day because I love it and it is now a new habit/lifestyle. It really works for me. I will also be doing the carnivore diet but I will not be a 100 percent carnivore. I want to enjoy the occasional birthday cake and when we go away on vacation I want to enjoy the local foods. I'm a foodie and that is really important to me. I love the benefits of intermittent fasting and my body loves it. 
My experiments with the carnivore diet have healed my digestive issues. I see a clear connection between fiber and my IBS. So I know that the carnivore diet is something that I will definitely pair with intermittent fasting. I do love fruits and vegetables but I know that my body cannot tolerate a lot of it.
 As for dairy, I have learned that it is something that I have to eliminate. There is a clear connection between dairy intake and my acne. I have also noticed the same thing with my teenage daughter. She has eliminated dairy completely and her acne has cleared. She also now only washes her face with water...She uses zero cleansing products. I have decided that I will still fast for 20 hours and have an eating window of 4 hours.

My anniversary omad meal was a beautiful meal at the Pickle Barrel! I had a huge corn beef sandwich with coleslaw, pickles and a caesar salad! It was delicious. YUM!

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 364!

Hi friends: It's day 364 of omad! Only one more day until my omad anniversary! I have written a blog every day for a year now! I have learned so much during this journey. I realized that habits have played a huge part in life. For example how I ate one year ago today is not the same as I eat today. When I was at my highest weight which was more than 167 pounds and when I was busting out of a size 14 and refused to step on that scale because I didn't want the numbers to define me. My habit at that time was eating from the time I woke up to the time I went to sleep. I felt comfort when I ate. I loved to eat while binge-watching my fave shows on Netflix. I didn't realize just how much I was eating until I started intermittent fasting. Now I sip water while watching tv. I learned that education is the key to weight loss. There is so much real info and also so much misinformation. Not everything works for everyone. So everyone's journey is different. I didn't take the smooth path to get to where I am today. I took the bumpy confusing path but I am happy I did because now I know what works and what doesn't work for me. I love food but now I know what delay and deny means for me. I am so grateful that I found intermittent blackseed oilapple cider vinegar and most recently the carnivore diet.  

When I would see those videos on youtube about black seed oil, I was in disbelief until I actually tried it. When I look back at my videos I can't believe that change. I guess you could say a combination of things helped me. I went from a size 14 to a size 5 in 3 months and 9 months later I was able to keep the weight off and surpass my weight loss goals. I now weigh 127 and my starting weight was 167. I feel great. I am finally happy and healthy.

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 363!

Hi friends: It's day 363 of omad! I fasted for 20 hours today and I had an eating window of 4 hours. My daughter and I did some shopping today and we went for a long walk. She wanted chicken schwarma for lunch but by the time we were finished all of our errands. It was close to dinner time. I had a steak planned for dinner but my daughter told me how yummy schwarma was. I wanted to eat clean today so I decided to just order the meat. My daughter had the special which was the sandwich, fries and a coke. What is chicken schwarma? It is also spelled shawurma or shwerma is a Levantine meat preparation, where thin cuts of lamb, chicken, turkey, beef, veal, or mixed meat stacked in a cone-like shape on a vertical rotisserie. As it rotates and the outside cooks continuously, thin slices are shaved off. In our case, the chicken was being cooked. The spices added are lemon juice, curry powder, extra virgin olive oil, salt, ground cumin, and garlic. 

My daughter's shaved meat was stuffed into a pita and she had everything added to it. For example, onions, parsley, tzatziki sauce, garlic sauce, and hummus. There were also spices added to her fries. I was a little cautious so I only had tzatziki sauce added to mine. So we loaded our food into our backpacks and headed back home. It was about a 30-minute walk home. All that I could smell was the delicious food. I couldn't wait to break my fast and chow down on that schwarma! OH BOY!!!

When I got home I grilled my steak and then reheated my schwarma. My first bites of food was that schwarma and sadly I was disappointed. It was dry and tasteless. I didn't like it. That tzatziki sauce did nothing for it. I ate steak and I was happy with that. Nothing compares to a good cut of steak! My daughter was happy to take my generous severing of chicken schwarma off my hands. Not everything is for everybody!

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 362!


Hi friends: It's day 362 of omad! This morning I went for an hour long walk. Then I went to my dentist appointment. My teeth and gums are in great shape. I take one tablespoon of molasses to reverse my graying hair. Some of my subscribers have asked me if it has damaged my teeth. It has not. However, I have some gum and teeth issues in the past mostly because my diet was high in carbs and I ate lots of sugar. I wonder if my new way of eating has aided in my teeth and gum health?? I have not shared my new diet with my dentist. I am waiting for her to ask me what I have been doing differently. 

After my appointment, my daughter and I went to see Hotel Transylvania 3 at the new VIP Cineplex theatre. We had a great time. The movie was so funny and well done. Before the movie, my daughter had a poutine for lunch and I had a bottle of water. I will admit that I was tempted to have some poutine as well. I also wanted to get a coffee too but I resisted temptation. What do I do to deal with temptation? I remind myself that I can have these foods during my feasting times. Breaking my fast is not worth it. I remind myself how wonderful my steak will be in just a few hours. I remind myself how far I have come. 

As for popcorn, we both did not have popcorn. I was at the 18-hour mark of fasting. Man, it smelled so good too. My daughter had a Gatorade and I had water. She is not really supposed to have popcorn because of her braces. Once again I remind myself that I can have popcorn during my eating window which was only 2 hours away. Since Monday I have been doing the carnivore diet, low key. I really want to go back to doing carnivore Monday to Friday and the weekends I want to do keto or have the weekends as cheat days. Routine really works for me and it is so easy to do the carnivore diet during the week but on the weekends I like to eat other foods.

Today's dinner was steak, pork bellies, and egg drop soup.

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 361!

Hi friends: It's day 361 of omad! As I get closer and closer to my omad/intermittent fasting one-year anniversary. I have been thinking about what has made me a successful faster. I believe in order to be successful faster. It is important to have the right mindset. It's important to think outside of the box. If you tell your friends and family what you are doing. They may be the ones that will challenge you and may even beg you to stop your "unhealthy" behaviour. It is so important to surround yourself with like-minded people. There are so many facebook and also google plus groups now. You have to be determined. For me eating one a day became a routine. Just like eating from the time I woke up and until I went to sleep was a routine. If you repeat a behaviour enough, something incredible happens. A new pattern starts. 
When I face temptation I think about the wonderful meal that I have to look forward too. I also think about what it felt like in the past when I gave into temptation. I ate the food and then the sensation was over.  I think about the first two bites of my food after a 20 hour fast. I think about the taste. So yummy. I actually look forward to this each day. I no longer feel hungry during the day.

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 360!


Hi friends: It's day 360 of omad! Only five more days until my omad anniversary!!! I am back to eating mostly meat. While on my vacation I ate whatever I wanted but I am seeing the results of that. My acne is back full force and my bloating has also returned. I am going to take one day at a time. I have surpassed my goal weight. I am successfully maintaining my weight with intermittent fasting. I can eat whatever I want at my meal but I want to deal with my health issues. It's so important to me to have better digestion and acne free skin. I know exactly what I have to do but sometimes I go off track. I also need to remember that I am dealing with years of programming. The programming:  eat more fiber, eat less meat and red meat is bad for you. I have proven to myself that eating more fiber actually makes my digestive issues worse. My body seems to thrive with fatty cuts of beef. I will take things one day at a time. Tonight's meal was tenderloin steak, pork bellies, and homemade chicken cracklings. Everything tasted so good. Especially my steak. It was so juicy and tender. I ate every single bite. I feel so good to eat my meal and not feel bloated. I love feeling satisfied.

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 359!


Hi friends: It's day 359 of omad! I have paused my carnivore diet. I have only 6 days left until I reach my goal of 365 days of omad! I decided I would concentrate on finishing this omad challenge. I will continue to do intermittent fasting and I will also eat mostly meat. At the end of this 365 days of omad I may do 365 days of the carnivore diet. Now that should be interesting. 

Last night I had a beautiful restful sleep in my own bed. I slept in late until 11:30am. My husband and I then went grocery shopping. No steak on sale this week. So we opted to buy chicken, chicken wings, bacon, and eggs. As for fruit, we bought mangos, watermelon, plantains, and bananas. I also bought a bag of frozen beans and broccoli for my daughter's plate. What else was in my grocery basket this week...croissants, cashews, Pellegrini, butter, paper towels, coffee and coconut oil. 

Today's supper was chicken vegetable soup and steak tenderloin.

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 358! Carnivore Diet Diary Day 13! FAIL


Hi friends: It's day 358 of omad! Today was our last day in Montreal. We had a blast but our vacation was too quick. Our next vacation will be a tour of Scotland, England, and France. Our last day we had brunch at our hotel. The restaurant was called the Resto Bar. I had the bacon, lettuce and tomato bacon sandwich it came with fruit and potatoes. I was delicious. We then went to see the Japanese Garden which was an about a 10-minute walk from our hotel. We then checked out of our hotel. We stayed at the Hotel Universal Montreal. We had a great time. This is our second stay. The last stay we booked the Prestige room which was an updated/renovated room which was much larger. I believe the beds were queen size. This time we wanted to save more money so we opted for the standard room. It was a nice room also but not renovated and much smaller but it was fine. This hotel is very clean and a great value for families that want to spend more on the experiences of Montreal and less on the actual hotel. At times it was very noisy and I must tell you that the walls are paper thin. 

A couple of hours later we stopped at a rest stop and I had a double whopper without the bun. I also had a coffee with cream and molasses. Today I fasted for 18 hours and had an eating window of 6 hours. I drink too many coffees today. During this vacation, I had too much dairy and bread. Honestly, I cannot wait to get back to my normal eating routine. I guess you say that this attempt at the carnivore diet was a fail this time around! I felt much better while eating just meat but I knew that it would not be realistic to do the carnivore diet this trip strictly from a budget perspective.

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 357! Carnivore Diet Diary Day 12! FAIL



It's Day 357 of omad and day 3 of our vacation in Montreal. I had my two glasses of water when I woke up. We arrived at our hotel close 11pm last night. So we slept late. Then we headed to St Catherine street to a dumpling restaurant. We shared fried and steamed shrimp dumplings for the first time. They were so good. We then went to burn off those carbs by walking and playing laser tag at Lazer Quest. My eating window was still open so I shared some wings with my family in Old Montreal a few hours later. I also had a coffee with molasses and cream. Another day of lots of walking and sightseeing. I love Montreal!

OMAD Intermittent fasting DAY 356! Carnivore Diet Diary Day 11! FAIL


It's day 356 of omad. This is also day 2 of our trip to Montreal. We were up early. Our daughter planned our entire day for us. It would be a day of shopping and smoked meat! We started our day by going to Tim Hortons for breakfast. My daughter had a cookie and a tea. I had my bottled water. My husband had some Gatorade. 

Because I ended my fast at 4pm yesterday I decided I would have lunch at 12 noon today. I decided to do a 20:4 fast today - my usual. We went to Main steakhouse and deli instead of the famous Schwartz. Mostly because of the good reviews of Main and because of the bad reviews of Schwartz. I'm not a fan of eating bugs. I had the Montreal smoked meat sandwich with pickles and coleslaw. I also had the poutine. Everything was so good.  I also decided that I would have a coffee and something sweet to close my four-hour eating window. I guess I could have just eaten the meat but I didn't want to. I wanted to eat everything and I did! I ate everything on my plate!

We shopped for an hour. Then we went to McDonald's. While ordering my coffee at McDonald's the power was lost at the underground mall. So back to another Tim Hortons we went. I had a coffee with molasses and cream. I was so disappointed with my chocolate dip donut. Why did I eat that donut? What a waste? I then closed my eating window for the day. For dinner my husband and daughter had pizza. I was still full from lunch. Our afternoon was spent on St Laurent and the evening was spent in old Montreal. I logged over 15,000 steps today. What a fantastic day and a beautiful city!!!!!
